It appears that Morocco's Throne Cup is heading towards a big duel in the quarterfinals after Royal Army club AS FAR defeated Renaissance Zemamra to qualify for the final eight on Wednesday.
Amine Zouhzouh scored just before halftime for AS FAR and Abdelfettah Hadraf's second half goal put the Botola Pro runners-up beyond reach. Veteran forward Ahmed Hammoudan added one more goal in stoppage time.
AS FAR now appear destined to face Botola Pro champions RS Berkane. The Orange Boys, currently participating in the CAF Confederation Cup final, will be the last team to complete their Round of 16 match when they face second tier club Kawkab Marrakech at a date yet to be determined.
Of note is that Casablanca giants Wydad and Raja were both eliminated in the Round of 16. The known quarterfinal fixtures are below:
Moghreb Tetouan vs Olympique Khouribga
AS FAR vs RS Berkane or Kawkab Marrakech
Union Touarga vs Stade Marocain
Olympique Safi vs USM Oujda
Dates for the quarterfinal matches have not been announced yet.
