TNM Super League: Blue Eagles deflate Bullets
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets suffered their second loss of the TNM Super League season, going down 0-1 to Blue Eagles on Sunday.
Laurent Banda scored the only goal of the game in the 79th minute to stun the partisan crowd at Kamuzu Stadium in the commercial City of Blantyre. Forward Hassan Kajoke had fluffed what appeared as Bullets’ clearest chance earlier before Eagles punished the hosts.
A blistering counterattack ended with winger Micium Mhone slicing Bullets’ defence with a long pass which set Banda clear one-on-one with the goalkeeper before slotting camly into the net.
Coach Peter Mponda threw more attackers forward to try and salvage something from the game. Striker Ephraim Kondowe had a chance but his effort bounced off the post.
The second home defeat saw the People’s Team miss a chance to slash leaders Mighty Wanderers’ lead to three points. Wanderers still lead with a six-point cushion on the 16-member log table after having played one game moreย than Bullets.
The Nomads, as Wanderers are called, forced an away one-all draw with Moyale Barracks FC on Saturday in the Northern Region.
