TNM Super League: Bullets overcome Dedza, go four clear

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets made use of the unavailability of rivals Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers for domestic league fixtures to go four points clear at the TNM Super League summit in Malawi.

The Blantyre giants eased to a commanding 3-0 victory over Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos in on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre. Chikumbutso Salima, among player of the season contenders, was on target alongside Chawanangwa Gumbo with the other being David Habu’s own goal.

The record Super League champions lead the 16-member log table with 43 points from 18 games after having played a game more than second-placed Wanderers.

Where were Wanderers and Silver Strikers?

The Nomads were in Botswana on Saturday for a CAF Confederation Cup assignment against Jwaneng Galaxy.

On the other hand, Silver hosted Elgeco PLUS on the same day in Lilongwe. Both teams have played a game less than Bullets. Wanderers sit four points behind Bullets with 39 points while Silver have 36 points. Dedza slipped down to position 10 with 21 points.

Elsewhere, MAFCO FC stunned Ekhaya FC 2-1 courtesy of Yohane Malunga and China Chirwa’s strikes while Alick Lungu netted the rookies’ consolation. In Lilongwe, Lloyd Mugala’s sole goal handed Civil Service a 1-0 victory over Kamuzu Barracks FC.
