TNM Super League: Six draws cost Mighty Wanderers top spot

Mighty Wanderers dropped to the second place of Malawi’s elite TNM Super League standings after a goalless draw against Creck Sporting Club, swapping top spot with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on Wednesday.

The Nomads, as Wanderers are called, should have been out of sight in the league as they are the only unbeaten team in the 16-member log table.

However, too many draws have undermined the unbeaten run of Wanderers, Wednesday’s share of the spoils being their sixth this 2025-2026 TNM Super League season alone.

Dropping 12 points from six games has worked to the advantage of rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. The record league champions have posted one draw and three defeats whose impact on the log table are minimal compared to Wanderers’ six draws.

Little wonder, Bullets jumped back to the summit of the table after overcoming rookies Songwe United 3-1 in the Northern Region.

Nigerian Babatunde Adepoju, the league’s leading striker, scored a brace with one goal coming from Isaac Salima for Bullets to go two points ahead of Wanderers.

Elsewhere, holders Silver Strikers edged Chitipa United 1-0 and lie in third place six points behind the leaders, Bullets. Elsewhere, Civo Service United overcame Ekhaya FC 2-1, handing the newcomers their back-to-back league defeat.
