The 24-year-old Nigerian international joins for a reported fee of €26 million from Belgian club KRC Genk on a contract that will run until 2029 with Wolves having an option to extend the deal by another season.

Arokodare’s transfer completes an astronomical rise for the physically formidable forward, whose career in European club football began in Latvia. He joined Valmiera from Lagos club Box2Box FC after having trials with clubs in France and Germany, making an instant impact in Latvia’s top flight Virsliga.

After an uneventful loan spell with Bundesliga club FC Köln, Arokodare spent time with Amiens in France’s Ligue 2 for two seasons before making his fateful move to Genk where his development accelerated. After winning Belgium’s Ebony Shoe, becoming co-leading scorer of the Jupiler Pro League for the 2024-25 season and breaking into the Nigeria national team, a transfer to a major European league was only a matter of time.

The Lagos native now has the opportunity to take his career to the next level. Wolves are off to a poor start this season, suffering defeats in all three of their Premier League games so far with only two goals scored. Korean international Hwang Hee-Chan and Colombian signing Jhon Arias have combined for one goal while Norwegian forward Jorgen Strand Larsen scored a brace in Wolves’ only victory so far this season, a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over West Ham United.

Arokodare represents a major transfer deadline move for Wolves, who have spent plenty of money in the transfer market but have yet to see notable results. The club spent heavily in the January 2025 transfer season to save themselves from relegation last season and are looking to avoid another disastrous first half of the campaign.

The striker will take part in upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games for Nigeria over the international break, with the Super Eagles needing victories against Rwanda and South Africa to salvage their fading hopes. Arokodare will have a chance to make his Wolves debut when the club travel to face Newcastle in their next Premier League fixture on September 13.

Arokodare ends his spell with Genk after producing 41 goals and 12 assists in 113 appearances across all competitions.
