Tolu Arokodare ‘did some really good things for Wolves’ – Edwards

Wolves manager Rob Edwards sung praises of Nigeria forward Tolu Arokodare after he found the back of the net as the team suffered a 3-1 Premier League defeat against Chelsea at Molineux on Saturday.

Wolves were punished by a decisive Chelsea first half, as three goals before the break condemned Edwards’ side to another defeat. Cole Palmer netted twice from the penalty spot inside 35 minutes, before completing a first-half hat-trick to round off a miserable first 45 minutes for the Old Gold.

Wolves put on an improved display in the second half, which saw Arokodare reduce the deficit early in the second half, but the hosts were ultimately left with too big of a task.

Arokodare worked hard for the team

Speaking after the game, Edwards to give his views on Arokodare’s goal. He responded to Wolves website: “We’re trying to change things, and we’re trying to progress in the hardest league in the world.

“The window’s been quite busy with outs. There’s a couple of fresh lads that have come in, who I thought were excellent. Like all of us, we’re trying to progress and move forward and get better.

“Great for him. Really, really good. He did some really good things today and worked hard for the team.”

Arokodare has scored two goals for Wolves

In another interview, Arokodare spoke about the game. He said: “Now I’m not really thinking about myself. I’m thinking more about the team, because if the team is doing great, then I’ll be doing great too.

“The individual performances, they come second, the team comes first. Obviously, it’s not easy, but I just have to stay focused, help my teammates and they help me, and together we will all achieve what we want, and that’s getting three points.”

Arokodare, who joined Wolves from Belgian Pro League outfit Genk, initially found it difficult to hit the ground running in England. However, he has now grown into the primary figure leading the charge for Rob Edwards’ side as they fight to climb away from the bottom of the table.

Out of 21 Premier League matches for Wolves, Arokodare has scored two goals.

Tolu Arokodare Scores as Wolves Struggle Against Chelsea

Wolves were punished by a ruthless Chelsea performance in the first half, as three goals before the interval left Edwards’ side with a steep uphill task. Cole Palmer was the standout performer, converting two penalties inside the opening 35 minutes before completing a first-half hat-trick to cap a dominant display by the visitors.

Chelsea’s sharp movement and clinical finishing exposed Wolves’ defensive frailties, and by halftime, the hosts found themselves firmly on the back foot. The early deficit drained confidence from the stands at Molineux, with Wolves struggling to impose themselves during the opening exchanges.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Wolves showed improved organisation and urgency after the break, determined to respond to the first-half setback.

Tolu Arokodare Leads Improved Second-Half Response

The Old Gold returned from the interval with renewed purpose, pressing higher up the pitch and committing more bodies forward. Their efforts were rewarded early in the second half when Tolu Arokodare reduced the deficit, reacting quickly inside the penalty area to finish past the Chelsea goalkeeper.

The goal injected belief into the Wolves side and briefly lifted the atmosphere inside Molineux. Arokodare’s movement, strength, and awareness caused problems for Chelsea’s backline, and Wolves enjoyed their best spell of the match during this period.

However, despite their improved display, the three-goal first-half deficit proved too much to overcome, and Chelsea managed the remainder of the game professionally to secure all three points.
