Danish Superliga top scorer Franculino adds another goal for Midtjylland

Talented striker and Guinea-Bissau international Franculino Djú is torturing opposing defenses for fun at this point when he takes the pitch for Danish club FC Midtjylland in league action.

The former Benfica player once again displayed his poaching skills in a 4-2 victory for Midtjylland in Sunday’s Superliga clash against Silkeborg. After conceding in the first half, the hosts equalized through Franculino in the 35th minute when he arrived to head home Aral Şimşir’s cross.

A strong start to the second half broke the deadlock in favor of the hosts. Şimşir put Midtjylland ahead in the 51st minute before Chilean international forward Dario Osorio made it 3-1 thirteen minutes later.

Last season’s runners-up Midtjylland are one point back of leaders FC Copenhagen, the same margin that saw Copenhagen edge Franculino’s club for the title last season. Midtjylland next turn their attention to qualifying for the league phase of the UEFA Europa League with a second leg clash against Finland’s KuPS on Thursday. Following a 4-0 first leg victory at home, FCM are heavy favorites to confirm qualification from the preliminary stages.

Franculino now has a remarkable record of 8 goals in 5 league games to go along with 2 assists, which is only increasing rumored interest from the likes of English Premier League clubs and others from Europe’s top-5 leagues.
