Ahead of their Premier League fixture against Aston Villa on Sunday, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has confirmed Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma will not be involved and could miss several weeks of action.
The midfielder suffered an ankle injury during Mali’s 4-1 World Cup qualifying win over Madagascar on Sunday, seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Giving the club’s injury updates, Frank said: “Kolo Muani has trained now for two weeks with the team, so that’s good. He looks better and better. He will be in contention for the squad … so that’s positive,” Frank told reporters on Friday.
“Biss unfortunately had a situation with the national team, I think everyone saw that, unfortunately, so he got a ligament injury to his ankle. That’ll keep him out for weeks.”
Responding to his injury after the Mali game, Bissouma wrote on Instagram: “Zero regrets. I once again thoroughly enjoyed representing my country, and if I had to do it all over again, I would do it for the love of my country.
“I fell, but I will know how to get back up. Every challenge is a lesson, every fall a reminder of my faith and my strength. This is not the end, just the beginning of a new chapter, stronger, more determined. See you soon.”
Bissouma joined Spurs from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022 after he signed a four-year deal. he made his debut coming on as a second-half substitute in a 4-1 win over Southampton in the Premier League.
