Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has praised Ghana international Mohammed Kudus after he scored his first Champions League for the club in a 3-0 victory against Slavia Prague to keep alive their top-eight prospects.
Kudus’ 50th-minute penalty virtually made the game safe before Simons added gloss with his spot-kick with 11 minutes left to move Tottenham temporarily up to ninth in the league phase.
Asked about Kudus performance, Frank told Spurs website: “Yeah, I agree. I think actually Mo started the season quite well. Then he had a dip, and now I think the last recent three performances or something like that, it seems we had that freshness, energy, acceleration, decisiveness in his actions.”
In a recent interview, Kudus revealed his desire to help the Premier League club challenge for trophies. “I’m still getting used to everything. Even though the demands are high, and obviously there’s no time, you’ve got to perform immediately joining a club because that’s what the league is about.
“With the help of the staff, the coach and the teammates, I’ve been settling smoothly so far, but there’s still a lot more to do and to show as a team, individually as well.”
Asked what he needs to prove himself at this level, Kudus replied: “Win a trophy with the club.
“There’s pressure to win every game especially playing for a big club like Tottenham. It was a good boost to win on Saturday and thanks to the fans for their support because we are all in this together. We just need to build on that and then kill it tomorrow as well.”
Kudus has made four Champions League appearances for Spurs and scored one goal.
