TP Mazembe sign Cameroonian Gouegoue

With two days before the kickoff of the DR Congo’s league, TP Mazembe have sharpened their attacking department. The former Linafoot champions have signed highly-rated Cameroonian attacking player Patient Wassou Gouegoue.

The highly-rated forward has signed a two-year contract with an option of a one-year extension with the Congolese outfit, according to its statement.

In the statement, the Ravens highlighted the qualities that the 21-year-old attacker will bring to the former CAF Champions League winners.

Why is Patient Wassou Gouegoue rated highly?

“Having emerged at Coton Sport de Garoua, his training club, WASSOU has distinguished himself with his speed, explosiveness, and ability to disrupt opposing defenses. A senior international with Cameroon, he has already taken part in major continental competitions, demonstrating his eye for goal and natural talent in one-on-one situations,” the statement reads.

“Coming from El Wadha in the United Arab Emirates, his arrival in Lubumbashi is part of the club’s policy aimed at strengthening its attacking sector with promising young African talents. The TPM welcomes Patient Wassou and sends him its best wishes for success in black and white.”

The 21-year-old can also play as a winger. He spent three years at Conon Sport before securing a move to the reserve side of Al-Wahda FC in the United Arab Emirates.

The Cameroonian will fill the void created by players who have left Mazembe either on loan and permanently.

One such player is striker John Bakata Amsini who joined Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors on loan from the Lubumbashi-based team last month. Jackson Muleka is another striker who left the Ravens recently to seal a transfer to Al Kholood in Saudi Arabia.
