The 20-year-old continues to show that he is capable of handling the level of a European top flight. He has 3 goals and 2 assists in 15 matches between Super League and cup matches.
Kabwit provided the 15th minute equalizer from a Julian Von Moos cross to cancel out Tim Meyer’s opener from Grasshoppers. The two teams traded goals again before halftime.
Finally, the hosts took the lead for good through Severin Ottiger after exchanging goals early in the second half. Luzern moved into 8th place on the 12-team table following the result.
Kabwit earned his first attempt in European club football after featuring for DR Congo at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) played in August 2025. While the Leopards went out in disappointing fashion at the group stage, he provided an assist in a 2-0 victory over Zambia.
He has experienced the highs and lows of bouncing between the role of regular in the XI to being a substitute with Luzern, but Kabwit is showing signs of growth.
“With Oscar Kabwit, we’re welcoming an interesting, young player with potential. He’s two-footed and will add extra versatility to our attack, especially with his speed,” said Luzern sporting director Remo Meyer. There is an option for the club to purchase the player on a permanent basis.
Next up on Saturday is another match against a club from Zürich when Die Leuchten travel to face FC Zürich.
