Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Uganda Cranes striker Fahad Bayo.
The forward has been training with the club for nearly a month with sources indicating that he has already signed a contract, pending an official unveiling once the next Tanzanian transfer window opens on December 15. The move comes as Yanga look to bolster their attacking options for the mid-season.
Bayo, currently unattached after his contract with Czech second-tier side MFK Vyškov was mutually terminated last season is seen as a valuable addition due to his vast experience. He has played for top clubs such as Ashdod FC and Bnei Sakhnin in Israel, Zambia’s Buildcon and Uganda’s Vipers SC and Proline.
On the international stage, he has earned 21 caps for the Uganda Cranes scoring eight goals and registering one assist. If finalized, Bayo will join Uganda Cranes midfielder and skipper Khalid Aucho at Young Africans.
Meanwhile, the club is working to resolve a contractual dispute with Ghanaian forward Augustine Okrah which led to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban. Young Africans' ambitions for local and continental dominance have positioned them as one of East Africa’s most attractive destinations for top players, and Bayo’s addition is expected to further strengthen their squad.
