TS Galaxy have officially confirmed the departure of left-back Qobolwakhe Sibande, who has completed a high-profile move to Egyptian outfit Petrojet SC.
The 25-year-old’s exit brings an end to weeks of speculation regarding his future in the Betway Premiership. Despite recent comments from head coach Adnan Beganovic suggesting the club intended to keep the player, the “Rockets” have now sanctioned the transfer ahead of the second half of the season.
Thank you, Qobolwakhe Sibande, for your commitment, energy, and positive spirit. Your contribution has made a real impact, and we truly appreciate everything you’ve given. Wishing you nothing but success at your new club @PJSCOfficial.🚀@aQuelle @aQuelleViV#Siyadumuza… pic.twitter.com/51JSFMy7D3

Sibande’s rise has been impressive. After coming through the ranks at Stellenbosch FC, where he made 42 appearances and helped the Winelands side lift the 2023/24 Carling Knockout Cup, he joined TS Galaxy in July 2024.
During his stay in Mpumalanga, he became a reliable fixture in the starting XI, featuring 11 times across all competitions this season alone.
A Quick U-Turn?
The transfer comes as a slight surprise given Beganovic’s recent stance. Just weeks ago, the Galaxy tactician seemed to dismiss the Egyptian links, stating:
“The club doesn’t agree with anything regarding that [move]. What I know is that he still has a contract with the club. He needs to stay with us.”
However, the allure of the Egyptian league proved too strong, and the club released a statement on Wednesday afternoon confirming the deal was finalised.
In a social media post, TS Galaxy expressed their gratitude to the outgoing defender:
“Thank you, Qobolwakhe Sibande, for your commitment, energy, and positive spirit. Your contribution has made a real impact, and we truly appreciate everything you’ve given. Wishing you nothing but success at your new club, Petrojet SC.”
Sibande now becomes the latest South African-based talent to test himself in the competitive North African market.
