Tunisia showed resilience on Thursday to keep their hopes alive at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by clawing a point off North African rivals Algeria in a 0-0 Group B draw played at the Stade Père-Jégo in Casablanca.
After falling to defeat against tournament favorites Nigeria in their opening match, the Tunisian selection was once again on the wrong end of a barrage of attacks but the Eagles of Carthage defended admirably.
Algeria put up 13 shot attempts with 6 on target but Tunisia goalkeeper Soulaima Jebrani kept a clean sheet with plenty of support from her defense. Both teams exchanged opportunities in the final minutes but eventually settled for a point each.
Algeria are in a good position to qualify for the quarterfinals ahead of a clash against African women’s football powerhouses Nigeria in their final Group B match on Sunday. Tunisia, with one point, will more than likely need a victory against Botswana on the final day when the two teams also clash on Sunday.

GP | Points | GD | |
Algeria | 2 | 4 | +1 |
Nigeria | 1 | 3 | +3 |
Tunisia | 2 | 1 | -3 |
