Tunisia Ligue 1: Club Africain share the points with Espérance in Tunis Derby

Round 12 of Tunisia’s Ligue 1 Professionnelle finished up on Sunday with one of the nation’s major derbies as Espérance hosted Club Africain for the latest Tunis Derby at the Stade Hamadi Agrebi. The match ended in a 2-2 result after Club Africain found a late equalizer from Yassine Bouabid.

A dream start saw CA snatch the lead inside ten minutes when Libya national team defender Ali Youssef headed in from Ghaith Sghaier’s corner kick service. EST responded close to halftime with two goals, the first from Brazilian attacker Yan Sasse before defender Mohamed Amine Tougai put the Blood and Gold ahead.

However it was Bouabid who leveled the match in the final stretch. A corner kick service from Bassem Srarfi found the defender for a header that just snuck by EST goalkeeper Amanallah Memmiche.

The draw in the Tunis derby allowed a new leader to emerge with CA falling behind US Monastir who defeated AS Soliman on Friday. Iyed Hadj Khalifa scored his first league goal for the club late on to win it for visiting Monastir.

Elsewhere there were victories for Stade Tunisien and Etoile du Sahel who are all located near EST on the league table. The full list of results from the weekend is below followed by the updated league table.
