The Tunisian Football Federation has officially announced the members of the new technical staff of the Tunisia national team, led by head coach Sabri Lamouchi, with recently retired star Wahbi Khazri included in the setup.
8 days ago, the federation confirmed Lamouchi’s appointment as head coach of the Carthage Eagles on a contract running until July 2028.
Under the new structure, Michael Hefele will serve as assistant coach, Olivier Pedemas has been appointed goalkeeping coach, while Cédric Blomme takes charge as physical trainer. Former Tunisia captain Wahbi Khazri will be responsible for the team’s analysis department.
Khazri officially announced his retirement from professional football in December. The former forward earned 74 caps for Tunisia, scoring 25 goals at international level. At club level, he had spells with several European sides, like Sunderland in England, as well as Rennes, Saint-Étienne and Montpellier in France.
Lamouchi takes over the national team following the dismissal of Sami Trabelsi, who was relieved of his duties after Carthage Eagles were knocked out from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.
Of Tunisian origin, Lamouchi previously represented France at international level, earning 12 caps. His coaching career includes managing the Ivory Coast national team and clubs such as El Jaish and Al Duhail in Qatar, Rennes in France, and Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City in England. He won the Emir Cup in Qatar in 2016 with El Jaish.
Tunisia have been drawn into Group F at the FIFA World Cup, alongside the Netherlands, Japan, and the winner of Europe Path 2, which includes Ukraine, Sweden, Poland and Albania.
