The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) is set to introduce Video Assistant Refereeing (VAR) in Ligue 1 games.
The federation hopes to install the technology across Tunisian Ligue 1 stadiums before the fifth matchday kicks off in mid-September 2025.
Tunisia will become the latest country to introduce VAR to its local league. Since 2025, the Ivory Coast has used the technology in its top-flight competition. FTF spokesperson Moez Mestiri told Tunis Afrique Presse that the federation is reviewing bids submitted by VAR providers.
The process could last only a few days, with the winning company to be revealed soon. Companies from Italy, England, and Portugal are vying to provide the service.
VAR could be introduced in Tunisia as early as September, before week five matches begin. Clubs in Tunisia have often disagreed with the federation over refereeing standards in the North African nation. The latest development is expected to improve the quality of refereeing in Tunisia.
