Galatasaray had it easy on Tuesday as the Turkish giants stormed into the final of the Turkish Cup with a dominant 5-1 victory at Konyaspor. Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen was once again at the center of the action, contributing the first goal of the match as well as an assist.
The opening goal was a trademark moment from the poacher extraordinaire. After a corner kick was initially cleared out by the Konyaspor defense, Osimhen waited and exploded into space to produce a perfect snapped header past young goalkeeper Deniz Ertaş.
Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira doubled Gala’s lead before halftime and the visitors were well on their way to victory. However, Osimhen wasn’t done. The Super Eagle turned provider less than two minutes into the second half when he dribbled down the left wing and passed to Roland Sallai, who had plenty of room to drive at the penalty area and fire in a goal from distance.
Konyaspor quickly pulled one back but that was as good as it got for the hosts. Sallai responded swiftly to make it 4-1 in the 55th minute and Yusuf Demir added one more for the Turkish Süper Lig leaders late on to complete the thumping.
Galatasaray now await the winners of the other semifinal on Thursday between Simon Banza’s Trabzonspor and Göztepe. The league leaders, five points clear of rivals Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig, return to league play on Sunday when they travel to face surprise fourth place side Eyüpspor.
