The Süper Lig third place side advanced to the knockout stages after Onuachu showed his trademark composure in the penalty area for an 84th minute strike. Ozan Tufan scored soon after to put the visitors well beyond reach of İstanbul Başakşehir in a 4-2 victory.
Excluded from the starting XI for a rest, the Nigerian was brought on in the second half to give the visitors a spark after Başakşehir came back from an early deficit. He now has goals in each of his last eight matches, leaving him with 20 goals in 24 matches from all competitions.
While Victor Osimhen was rested in Galatasaray’s cup fixture, young Guinea-Bissau international midfielder Renato Nhaga scored his first goal in Turkish football.

The 18-year-old, who arrived during the January transfer window from Portuguese club Casa Pia for a large €6.5 million fee, played the full match for the first time with Gala and produced a clever low finish that stood as the match winner on Tuesday.
Nhaga emerged as a player to watch on the Guinea-Bissau national team during 2026 World Cup qualifying, where he made four appearances for Os Djurtus.
Early on Tuesday, Ivorian forward Moussa Koné scored in with Fatih Karagümrük in a 2-0 victory at third tier side Fethiyespor. High pressing and good fortune led to his second cup goal this season.
