Burkina Faso continue to be one of the major stories of the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after completing a perfect group stage with a 2-0 result over South Africa to win Group B.

Ashraf Tapsoba's spectacular long range blast and a massive penalty kick save by Prince Ouedraogo in the first half confirmed Burkina Faso's status as group winners. For South Africa's Amajimbos, relief arrived as they qualified for the quarterfinals and the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup courtesy of Egypt's victory over Cameroon.

South Africa dominated possession but missed opportunities and clinical direct play from the Burkinabe was too much for the Amajimbos, who were denied from the penalty spot by goalkeeper Ouedraogo close to the half hour mark.

Early in the second half, South Africa appeared to have another chance from the spot but a VAR review overturned the initial call. In the 65th minute, Burkina Faso struck for their first goal on an excellent counter attack when Tapsoba set up Issouf Bara who had time to collect himself for a perfect finish.

It was an even match but the opportunistic Burkinabes picked their moments with better precision. However, at the conclusion both teams were left satisfied with the ultimate goal achieved...a place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
