Tunisia announced their return to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday with a statement 3-0 win over Somalia in El Jadida. An early goal unsettled the East Africans as Tunisia moved to the top of Group C. Fadi Tayechi was the star of the match with two goals and an assist.

Tayechi gave the baby Carthage Eagles the lead after a cool finish inside the box in the six minute. Somalia came close to get a deserved draw but Anas Isse’s effort was saved by Tunisian keeper Slim Bouaskar. San Diego FC striker Anisse Saidi doubled the lead before the interval following a good work by Tayechi.

The second half saw Tunisia taking the upper hand with a strong display. Tayechi put the game beyond Somalia in the 58th minute.

Tunisia tops Group C together with holders Senegal. Both nations will face each other on Friday. Somalia will be hoping to secure their first ever U-17 AFCON point when they face Gambia on the same day.
