Uganda U-17 head coach Brian Ssenyondo says his team is fully focused and ready for their second international friendly against Panama, following a spirited display in their opening match against Venezuela in Dubai.

The Uganda Cubs, currently in the United Arab Emirates for a 10-day training camp ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, are using the build-up games to sharpen their tactical approach and build cohesion before their opening fixture against Canada on November 5.
Ssenyondo noted that his young charges have shown tremendous improvement in attitude and execution, and he now wants to see more efficiency in front of goal when they take on Panama.
“We’ve worked on a few areas since the first game especially finishing,” Ssenyondo said. “If we can be more clinical and maintain the same confidence, rhythm, and intensity, we shall have another strong performance. We’re ready for Panama and eager to see how the boys handle a different style of play.”
The coach admitted that while his staff had limited information about Panama, the technical team has analyzed their past matches in the CONCACAF region and drawn valuable insights. He believes the second test will provide another opportunity for the Cubs to grow and express themselves.
The Cubs opened their Dubai series with a 1–1 draw against Venezuela at Al Arabi Sports and Cultural Club on Thursday, a match that reflected both promise and lessons.
Uganda dominated much of the first half with fluid attacking play and creativity but missed several clear chances before forward Bogere James broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half, capitalizing on a perfect assist from Isima Magala.
Venezuela later equalized in the 74th minute to force a draw.
Despite the missed opportunities, Ssenyondo was upbeat about his players’ progress.
