Newly appointed Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has invited 36 players to the Nigeria’s camp ahead of next month’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifying fixture. The Flamingos will face the winner of the first-round clash between Niger and Guinea.
Niger is scheduled to host the first leg of the opening round this weekend, with the return leg taking place in Conakry next weekend.
The aggregate winner will host Nigeria—the 2022 FIFA World Cup bronze medalists—in the second-round, first-leg encounter during the weekend of May 22–24. The Flamingos will then play host for the return leg on Saturday, May 30.
The invited group consists of five goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 13 midfielders, and eight forwards. This marks the beginning of Busari’s tenure with the Flamingos as he takes over from former coach Bankole Olowookere.
This year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals will take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
