Ghana U-20 forward, Abdul Aziz Issah has admitted that, their final Group C game against Central African Republic at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was difficult.

Issah, who was adjudged the best player in the 1-0 victory at the Suez Canal Stadium on Thursday, has been instrumental in Ghana’s journey to topping Group C after three matches.

The Black Satellites drew 1-1 with DR Congo in the opener before registering a 1-0 score line wins against defending champions Senegal and Central African Republic respectively.

Abdul Aziz Issah spoke after Ghana’s 1-0 win over Central African Republic: “It was a difficult game but we managed to pick the win. We know the game was going to be tough because they need a win to qualify and we also need a point although we have qualified but we need a win to top the group.

“So we know it is going to be a difficult game but we thank God we got the win in the dying minute,” Issah said in a post-match interview.

The 19-year-old Issah began his career with Dreams FC’s youth team before earning promotion to its senior team in 2022. He played a key role in Dream FC’s first-ever Ghana FA Cup trophy leading to their qualification for the 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup where they finished at the semifinals.

Issah was part of the Ghana under-20 team that won gold at the 13th African Games in 2024. His performance caught the eyes of Barcelona who have snapped him up for the junior side.

Ghana have now collected 7 points and they top Group C. Senegal managed to sneak into second on 4 points same as DR Congo but on a goal’s advantage and Central African Republic are left bottom of the log on one point.
