DR Congo Under-20 national team coach Guy Bukasa has set a target of reaching the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The two-time participants will open their campaign against the Black Satellites of Ghana in Suez on Friday, April 2, with Bukasa aiming to upset the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winners.
“Our goal is not to limit ourselves to just the three group matches. We want to qualify for the quarter-finals and, if God allows, aim for a spot in the World Cup,” Bukasa told CAFOnline.
DR Congo’s U-20 national team have made two previous appearances at the tournament but have never made it out of the groups.
Bukasa is hoping to make history by becoming the first coach to guide DR Congo past the group stage of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. The semi-finalists of the tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Chile later this year.
