Sierra Leone will take a second bite at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday against hosts Egypt at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismaila.
The Shooting Stars, who are making their tournament debut, posted an impressive performance in their opening Group A game against Zambia which ended goalless.
Sierra Leone head coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara has said that they will correct all the mistakes they committed in the first match which includes working on their goal scoring rate.
Lamin Kamara said: “[There are] two ways we are going to approach this game, one, we are going to change personnel and then two we work on finishing so that our chances that we create don’t go again.
“If you watch Egypt play against South Africa, I think we need to have a different approach.
“We still have a very great chance of qualifying for the next stage with three more games to go.” Mohamed Lamin Kamara told the Sierra Leone Football Association media.
Defender Saidu Bangura said that they would correct all the mistakes they committed in their first match against Zambia at the Cairo International Sports Stadium.
“We know the mistakes and the things that we missed in the last game. We had a couple of chances that we could have capitalized on. We are working on our finishing so we know we could do better to qualify for the next round.” Bangura told SLFA media.
Sierra Leone now have a tall order to beat host nation Egypt in their second group game. Egypt dug deep in their opening game to beat South Africa by 1-0 in Cairo on Sunday. The 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations began on Sunday, April 27 and will finish on May 18.
