UAE Pro League: Banza, Elneny and Milson lead Al Jazira to another win

Al Jazira Club have now won five consecutive matches in the UAE Pro League and on Monday, it was their African stars who were influential once again in a 3-1 result over Khor Fakkan.

Milson has injected a breath of fresh air into the club since his arrival from Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade and the Angola national team forward produced another impressive moment of brilliance. A driving dribble run from the midfield led to a deadly “tiki-taka” combination with Simon Banza before he finished for his second goal with the club.

Earlier, the hosts ended the opening quarter hour with the opening goal when former Arsenal and Egypt national team midfielder Mohamed Elneny set up Mohammed Rabii for a routine finish.

Adama Diallo struck back for Khor Fakkan in the 37th minute to cut the deficit in half. The visitors, led by Moroccan attacker Tarik Tissoudali, did provide a stern challenge and were worthy of more than a defeat.

But in the end, the high quality in the Al Jazira attack was simply too much and the hosts made better use of their opportunities. Just when the visitors thought they had limited the damage to only a one-goal deficit, Banza added a devastating third goal for the hosts in first half stoppage time.

Elneny’s pass was perfect to find the run of forward Bruno, whose cross only required a simple finish from the Congolese striker. Banza has now scored in four of his last five matches, with five goals during this stretch to increase his total to seven goals on the season.

Continental ambitions revived for the UAE Pro League’s hottest club

The Abu Dhabi club continue to establish themselves as firm contenders to qualify for continental football next season. They sit in third place, ten points back of second place Al Ain and twelve points back of leaders Al Ahli Dubai who also won on Monday. Al Jazira will face Al Ahli Dubai on Saturday in the semifinal of the UAE President’s Cup.
