Victor Osimhen has officially pulled clear of the pack in the race for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League “Player of the Match” (POTM) crown.
According to the latest data released by UEFA on Tuesday, the Nigerian striker is now the sole leader of the competition’s individual honours. The highly-rated attacker has secured four POTM awards this season, moving one ahead of a star-studded group of rivals who currently sit on three.

The Galatasaray talisman’s fourth accolade has placed him in a league of his own, ahead of global superstars Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), who have each claimed the award three times.
Other notable players trailing the Super Eagles star with three awards include Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon, Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere, and the Portuguese duo of Francisco Trincão and Jens Petter Hauge.
The Nigerian international broke the deadlock at the top of the standings following his heroic performance against Juventus. Despite Galatasaray suffering a narrow 3-2 second-leg defeat in Italy, Osimhen’s dominance over the two legs—culminating in a 7-5 aggregate victory—earned him his fourth individual trophy of the campaign.
Osimhen’s four awards are a direct result of his devastating form in front of goal. The 27-year-old has netted seven goals in eight Champions League appearances this season, making him the most impactful player in the tournament to date.
All eyes now turn to RAMS Park tonight, March 10, as Galatasaray host Liverpool in a massive Round of 16 encounter. Having already scored the winning penalty against the Reds during the league phase earlier this season, the Nigerian star has a golden opportunity to extend his lead at the top of the leaderboard and inch closer to the competition’s Golden Boot.
