Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has expressed confidence in their comeback against Liverpool in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League.
PSG suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Reds in the first leg of their round of 16 tie, despite dominating much of the game at home. The Ligue 1 giants created several goal scoring opportunities but were ultimately pegged back by Liverpool’s defensive discipline and the magical moments of goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Speaking after the match, the Morocco full-back expressed his frustration over the result but remained sure that the tie is far from over. “Yes, as you say, we are frustrated to finish the match like that, to lose a match that we dominated from the start,” he said in a post-match interview.
“After all the chances we created, we are happy with the work, the personality, and the desire of the whole team.” “We are not going to let this go. There is still a second match, and we will go there looking for victory,” Hakimi added.
The Parisians are faced with a must win situation at the Anfield with just one goal deficit in the bag from the first leg.
For PSG to progress to the quarter finals, they will need to be more clinical in front of goal while maintaining their defensive solidity against Liverpool’s counter-attacking threat.
