The Uganda Cranes are set for a stern examination tonight as they square off against African heavyweights Cameroon in a highly anticipated international friendly at Stade de Marrakech Annexe. Kick-off is scheduled for 9.00pm local time (11pm Ugandan time).

The Cranes arrived in Morocco on Tuesday, and have since conducted three intensive training sessions under the watchful eye of Belgian head coach Paul Put. The friendly match is part of the team’s preparations during the FIFA international window, as the technical team continues to fine-tune the squad for future competitive fixtures.

Despite the short preparation time, Coach Put expressed optimism about the team’s response and readiness to compete.

“We may have had limited time, but the attitude and intensity in training have been impressive. Cameroon is a strong side, but we’re ready to test ourselves. This game will provide a good benchmark,” stated Put.

Among the fresh faces in the squad is Hibernian FC left-back Jordan Obita, who is eager to earn his debut for Uganda.

“I’m thrilled to be part of the Uganda Cranes. The reception has been great and I’m looking forward to possibly making my debut tonight. It’s an honour,” said Obita.

Also speaking ahead of the match, Italy-based center-back Elio Capradossi emphasized the importance of the encounter in building cohesion and belief within the group.

“Cameroon is a top side, but we’re prepared to compete. For us, this match is more than just a friendly—it’s a platform to prove ourselves and gel as a unit.”

Midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga, who features for Oakland Roots SC in the USA, highlighted the benefit of players coming into camp with good match fitness from club football.

“Most of us have been active at club level, which gives us an edge in terms of fitness and sharpness. We’re ready to take on Cameroon,” he said.

Tonight’s game will be followed by another friendly against The Gambia on Monday, June 9, as the Cranes' technical team continues assessing players and solidifying tactics.
