Uganda Cranes co-head coaches Morley Byekwaso and Fred Muhumuza have unveiled the final 26-man squad set to represent the nation at the upcoming CECAFA 4 Nations Tournament in Arusha, Tanzania.
The team, announced on Saturday, will travel to Arusha on Sunday as preparations intensify for the regional competition that will also act as a build-up for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo, midfielder Shamir Kimwero, and defender Ronald Otti have been dropped from the provisional camp squad as the coaches finalized their selection.
The CECAFA 4 Nations Tournament will feature Uganda, hosts Tanzania, regional rivals Kenya, and invited guests Senegal. Each team is scheduled to play two matches, with Uganda pitted against Kenya and Tanzania facing Senegal in the opening fixtures on July 23rd.
The winners of the first games will clash in the final four days later, while the losing teams will also square off in a placement match. The tournament is designed as a precursor for the CHAN 2024 finals, which will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from August 2nd to 30th.
