Two of Uganda's biggest clubs will meet in the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after KCCA FC confirmed an expected semifinal victory on Sunday.
The Kampala side played to a 1-1 draw in the second leg of their clash with second tier side Kataka FC at the Mbale Municipal Stadium. KCCA advance with a 4-1 aggregate victory, setting up a date with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC on May 31.
Brazilian playmaker João Gabriel's curled effort shortly after halftime removed any slim doubts that KCCA might allow Kataka to come back from a 3-0 first leg defeat. Michael Olingazi pulled a goal back for hosts Kataka later on in the second half but by that point, KCCA's aggregate victory was a mere formality.
Now the Kasasiro Boys can salvage their dreams of continental football next season if they can defeat Vipers and deny their rivals a domestic double under the lights at FUFA Stadium in Kadiba at the end of the month. The final will take place at 6:00 pm local time.
