Vipers SC are through to the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup following Saturday's 1-0 semifinal second leg victory over Kitara FC at the Royals Park in Butema. The Venoms gained revenge on Kitara FC for last season's elimination in the cup at the quarterfinal stage and now will have an opportunity to complete their third domestic double in the last six years.

Abdulkarim Watambala put Vipers beyond reach with his strike early in the second half, giving the newly crowned Uganda Premier League champions a 2-0 edge in the aggregate score. A late Yunus Sentamu goal previously gave Vipers a 1-0 first leg victory.

Hosts Kitara created several opportunities to get themselves back into the cup tie but finishing struggles kept them from leveling affairs. After creating the best opportunity of the first half, Kitara then fell further behind when Watambala produced a powerful finish from a cross by Vipers starlet Abbakali Walusimbi.

Kitara applied heavy pressure to the Vipers defense from that point forward but luck was not on their side.

Vipers are now likely to face regular title rivals KCCA FC in the final. KCCA will face second tier side Kataka for their semifinal second leg clash on Sunday with a 3-0 advantage from the first leg.
