Awany, whose initial deal expired last month, has been with Ashdod since 2019 after joining from KCCA FC. The center-back has made 166 appearances for the club, scoring once and assisting another. He played a pivotal role in helping Ashdod avoid relegation last season.
On the international scene, Awany has been a consistent figure for the Uganda Cranes since 2016, earning 40 caps and scoring one goal. Ashdod will begin their new campaign against Hapoel Jerusalem in the Toto Cup Ligat Al on July 22nd.
