Uganda confirms Hoima Stadium meets International five-star standards

The newly completed Hoima City Stadium has officially received a perfect 5-star rating, following an independent site evaluation carried out on November 5, 2025.

Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, confirmed the development, noting that the facility’s pitch scored an impressive 115 out of 115 points, an indication of exceptional performance across all assessment parameters.

The evaluation covered three critical areas:

Playing Quality, Physical Quality, and Turf Quality, all of which surpassed international benchmarks.

Hon. Ogwang hailed the achievement as a landmark milestone in Uganda’s sports infrastructure journey, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between government bodies, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), and contractor SUMMA.

“I thank all stakeholders, including the contractor SUMMA, for delivering this milestone facility that meets top-tier international standards,” Ogwang said.

With this rating, Hoima City Stadium now stands among the best football venues in the region, boosting Uganda’s capacity to host international matches and major tournaments.

The recognition comes shortly after FUFA confirmed the completion of construction works, pending final certification from CAF and FIFA before the official handover to the government.
