Coming into the game at Luzira, the hosts looked determined to rewrite recent history against a side that had often proven difficult on their turf.
Their intent was evident early on when Mayanja tested BUL’s goalkeeper Adrine Isabirye inside the opening minutes, forcing a sharp double save.
The breakthrough, however, arrived shortly after.
Mayanja found space and calmly finished to give the hosts the lead in the 21st minute, a moment that ultimately defined the contest.
The goal handed them control heading into the break, while BUL, under the guidance of Alex Isabirye, were left chasing the game.
In response, the visitors made changes early in the second half, introducing their leading scorer Karim Ndugwa and later reshuffling further in search of an equaliser.
Despite the attacking adjustments, the leaders remained compact and disciplined at the back, successfully repelling every attempt.
The resilience of the hosts ensured that Mayanja’s first-half strike stood as the difference, sealing all three points and a significant psychological victory against BUL at Luzira.
The result lifts the victors to ninth place on 29 points, narrowing the gap to just one point behind BUL in the standings.
Attention now turns to the next round of fixtures, with BUL set to visit URA FC on April 16, while Maroons will be on the road against NEC FC two days later.
