Uganda Premier League: Title race heats up as Kitara push for top, KCCA hosts Police
The race at the top of the Startimes Uganda Premier League intensifies on Friday with four Matchday 19 fixtures lined up, highlighted by Kitara’s push for top spot and a tricky test for KCCA against Police under the lights.
Kitara have an opportunity to temporarily climb to the summit if they secure victory away to UPDF at the Military Barracks Ground in Bombo.
Wasswa Bbosa’s side currently sit second with 39 points, just two behind leaders Vipers SC, who will only be in action on Saturday against Mbarara City.

A win for the Hoima-based outfit would see them leapfrog Vipers for at least 24 hours as the title race gathers momentum. Their hosts UPDF, however, are desperate for points as they battle relegation, sitting second from bottom on 12 points, three shy of the safety zone.
Later in the evening, attention shifts to the MTN Omondi Stadium where KCCA face off with Police FC in an important clash.

KCCA head into the encounter buoyed by a 2-0 triumph over Buhimba United Saints, a result that kept them firmly in the title conversation. The Kasasiro Boys occupy third place with 36 points and will be keen to maintain pressure on the leading pack.
Police will be seeking a repeat of their first-round success when they defeated KCCA 2-0. The Cops will rely on the attacking threat of Congolese export Ikamba, Charles Bbale and Umar Kasumba as they look to upset their hosts.
Elsewhere, BUL FC welcome bottom-placed Calvary FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, hoping to edge closer to the top seven, while in-form NEC FC travel to Najjembe to take on Lugazi FC.
