The Matchday 21 encounter was officially cleared by the Uganda Premier League Secretariat after the host club sought approval to switch the venue from their traditional home at The Royals Park β Butema to the newly constructed stadium.
League officials confirmed that the necessary operational and hosting standards had been fulfilled, paving the way for the historic fixture to proceed at the modern facility.
Located in the Mparo Division of Hoima City in western Uganda, the stadium stands as one of the countryβs newest sporting landmarks.
It was officially inaugurated in December last year by Yoweri Museveni, marking a significant milestone in Ugandaβs sports infrastructure development.
The state-of-the-art facility was built by Turkish construction company MS Summa and delivered in record time.
Construction commenced in September of the previous year and was completed within just 12 months, finishing four months ahead of schedule, an uncommon feat for a project of such scale.
With a construction cost of approximately $129 million USD (about 500 billion Ugandan shillings), the stadium represents a major national investment in sport. It has also been selected as one of Ugandaβs designated venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, alongside Mandela National Stadium.
Beyond the main football arena, the Hoima complex offers several additional facilities designed to support elite sports and community activities. These include a 2,000-seater indoor arena, a semi-Olympic swimming pool measuring 25 by 12.5 metres, auxiliary training pitches, a running track, and outdoor courts for basketball and volleyball.
Spread across 16.8 acres, the multi-purpose sports complex is expected to play a key role in hosting major competitions while also serving as a hub for sporting development and community engagement in the region.
