The match kicked off at a steady tempo, with KCCA FC showing early intent.
In the 5th minute, Gavin Kizito sent a long ball into the box that Ivan Ahimbisibwe headed narrowly wide. Four minutes later, Shafik Kwikiriza was fouled just outside the area, allowing Ashraf Mugume to curl a dangerous free kick that was smartly saved by Buhimba goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba.
KCCA continued to probe. At the 24th minute, Kwikiriza controlled a long throw and laid the ball off to Mugume, whose effort was parried wide once again by the alert Kiyimba.
Mugume tried his luck from distance in the 33rd minute after winning possession in midfield, but his shot drifted off target.
Buhimba’s resistance was finally broken in the 43rd minute. Joel Sserunjogi delivered a precise long ball that Saidi Mayanja controlled expertly before teeing up Ahimbisibwe, who finished calmly to give KCCA FC a deserved 1–0 lead at the break.
The visitors made changes at halftime, handing a debut to Kennedy Muserero, who Saidi Mayanja, while Rogers Mugisha came on for Shafik Kwikiriza.
Buhimba showed renewed urgency after the restart. In the 55th minute, Muber’s cross found Anwar Ntege, whose header was well saved by KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa.
Three minutes later, Muserero nearly marked his debut with a goal, controlling the ball in the box, lifting it over his marker, and firing a shot that drew a spectacular save from Kiyimba.
Mugolofa was called into action again in the 70th minute, racing off his line to deny Swadik Moro in a crucial one-on-one moment that preserved KCCA’s lead.
Further substitutions followed in the 77th minute, with Alex Yiga and Bright Anukani introduced to freshen up the side.
The decisive moment arrived in the 87th minute. Bright Anukani sent a long ball forward that Ahimbisibwe controlled with confidence before smashing a powerful shot into the roof of the net, sealing the result and completing his brace.
Ahimbisibwe was withdrawn in stoppage time to a warm reception, replaced by Alpha Thierry Ssali, as KCCA FC comfortably saw out the remaining minutes.
In the other match on Monday between Calvary FC and SC Villa at Midigo Primary School Grounds in Yumbe, it was abandoned at halftime with the score at 0–1 in favour of SC Villa.
The match officials did not resume for the second half due to concerns relating to match control, safety, and security within the stadium environment and now awaiting formal decision on the matter awaits from the UPL secretariat in the due course.
