Mbarara City head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi has decided to remain at the helm of the Ankole Lions for the second half of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season.

Following the club’s final first-round match against KCCA FC, speculation suggested that Mbabazi was set to part ways with the club. However, according to Swift Sports Uganda the tactician will continue in his role with full backing from the club’s hierarchy.

Mbabazi, who rejoined Mbarara City at the start of the season, now shifts focus to helping his side steer clear of relegation. The Ankole Lions finished the first half of the campaign with 17 points from 15 matches and will begin the second half with an away fixture against Mbale Heroes FC on Thursday, February 13.

In addition to their league commitments, Mbarara City remains in contention for the Stanbic Uganda Cup, having advanced to the Round of 32 after a penalty shootout victory over Junior Eagles in the previous round.
