The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns from the international break with match day 21, headlined by a historic showdown under the lights at the MTN Omondi Stadium, where NEC FC hosts Express FC in what will be the club’s 50th league match.

NEC, currently second on the table with 44 points, will be eager to close the five-point gap on leaders Vipers SC, who are not in action until Saturday when they visit defending champions SC Villa.

Hussein Mbalangu’s side went into the break on a high after a commanding 3-1 victory over Maroons FC and will be aiming for another statement win. Meanwhile, Express FC arrives at Lugogo in desperate need of a turnaround.

The Red Eagles have struggled for form, losing back-to-back games and securing just one win in their last five league outings. However, they take confidence from their 1-0 win over NEC in the reverse fixture at Nakivubo, a result that handed the Bugolobi-based side their first defeat of the season.

Express, currently seventh with 28 points, could climb into the top five with a victory. Earlier in the day, Police FC welcomes Kitara FC to Kavumba in a game fueled by revenge. The Royals, who are winless in their last two matches, will be looking to make amends for their first-round defeat to the Cops.

Kitara sits sixth with 29 points, while Police, fresh from a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Express before the break, are 12th with 23 points.
