NEC head to Kakyeeka Stadium for a must-win clash against Mbarara City as they seek to stay within touching distance of Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers SC.
Hussein Mbalangu’s side sits second in the table, eight points adrift of the summit, and anything short of victory could all but extinguish their hopes of a historic title in their debut Uganda Premier League campaign.
Their hosts, Mbarara City, are battling relegation, sitting just four points above the drop zone and without a win in their last eight outings. The stakes couldn’t be higher for both sides. Meanwhile, under the Nakivubo floodlights, a heavyweight encounter sees URA FC renew their long-standing rivalry with SC Villa.
The Tax Collectors are aiming for a swift response after their four-game winning streak was ended by Police FC. They currently occupy fourth place with 42 points and will look to solidify a top-four finish.
Villa, who were held to a goalless draw by Kitara in their last outing, need maximum points to potentially break into the top five – especially if Kitara falter at home to Wakiso Giants. The Jogoos sit seventh on 37 points and are level with Kitara heading into matchday 26.
Elsewhere, Kitara are desperate to return to winning ways after three consecutive matches without a victory. They host 14th-placed Wakiso Giants, who, despite their struggles, still have a mathematical chance to avoid relegation with 19 points.
At Mbale Municipal Stadium, Mbale Heroes continue their hunt for a much-needed victory when they take on Maroons, while relegation-threatened Soltilo Bright Stars welcome Express FC to Kavumba.
