The Muteesa II Stadium at Wankulukulu undergoes renovation.

Uganda Premier League sides SC Villa and Wakiso Giants have been forced to shift their matchday 14 fixtures to alternative venues due to ongoing renovations at their home grounds.

Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku, home to reigning league champions SC Villa and Wakiso Giants’ Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium are currently undergoing upgrades.

These renovations are in preparation for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to run from February 1-28 and co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

As a result, SC Villa will host URA FC at Luzira Prisons Ground this Saturday. The Jogoos, who are winless in their last four league matches and currently sit eighth on the table with 17 points, will be desperate to turn their fortunes around. Meanwhile their opponents URA FC will look to capitalize on Villa’s struggles as the league intensifies.

For Wakiso Giants, the challenges are even more pressing. The Purple Sharks, stuck in a ten-game winless streak, will host Kitara FC on Sunday at the newly revamped Nakivubo Hamz Stadium. With the team hovering just three points above the relegation zone, they will need a strong performance to steady their season.
