Uganda Premier League: URA on hunt for first victory, Police seek home boost

Match Day Five of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League unfolds on Wednesday with two thrilling encounters lined up in Kiira and Nakivubo.

At the newly opened Police Arena Grounds, hosts Police FC will be eager to bounce back after suffering a setback against SC Villa in their previous outing. Coach Matia Lule’s men, currently sixth on the log, are keen to return to winning ways and maintain momentum in front of their home fans.

The Cops will rely on the attacking flair of Congolese forward Bedia Djuma Ikamba, supported by Charles Bbale and the experienced Umar Kasumba, as they look to unlock the Maroons’ defense.

URA FC will be chasing first win of the season

Visitors Maroons FC, who have recorded a win, a draw, and a loss so far, come into this tie following a disappointing goalless stalemate with newcomers Calvary. With four points from three games, victory in Kiira would see the Prison Warders leapfrog the 2005 league champions in the standings.

Later under the Nakivubo floodlights, URA FC will be chasing their first win of the season when they take on UPDF FC at the Hamz Stadium.

Despite remaining unbeaten, the Tax Collectors have been held to four consecutive draws against BUL, Express, NEC, and Lugazi, leaving them desperate to turn performances into victories.

Meanwhile, Paul Kiwanuka’s UPDF side will be hoping to find consistency after a shaky start that has seen them lose twice in three games. The Army Men sit 12th on the table with three points and will aim to improve on their last visit to Nakivubo, where they fell 1-0 to Express FC on opening day.
