The 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League could crown a champion this Saturday if table leaders Vipers SC secure a victory at BUL FC in Njeru. With 65 points, the Venoms are just one win away from sealing their 7th league title.
Standing in their way is a resolute BUL side that remains unbeaten in the second round and will be looking to spoil the party. Meanwhile, second-placed NEC (58 points) visit relegated Bright Stars in Kavumba. NEC must win, and pray BUL does them a favour to keep the title race alive.
However, if NEC fail to collect all three points, Vipers will clinch the title regardless of the result in Njeru. At Royal Park Butema, Kitara FC’s five-match winless streak will be put to the test against Maroons. Coach Wasswa Bbosa’s side have scored just once during that dismal run and sit 9th on 38 points.
A victory is vital if they are to stay in the hunt for a top-five finish. Maroons, two points ahead of Kitara, could break into the top five if KCCA stumble. KCCA themselves will host Wakiso Giants at Lugogo, desperate to bounce back from a 2-2 draw with SC Villa earlier in the week.
The stakes are even higher for Wakiso Giants—anything less than three points could confirm their relegation, especially if Mbarara City earn a result at home against Lugazi. Mbarara City, fighting for survival, only need to match Wakiso’s result to guarantee another season in the top flight.
Elsewhere, URA FC and Express FC square off in a high-stakes Nakivubo derby. URA, currently 4th on 46 points, could lock up a top-four finish with a win. Express, sitting 7th, would leap to 5th with victory depending on results elsewhere.
