Vipers SC claimed a commanding 2-0 win against URA FC at Nakivubo Stadium on Friday, propelling them to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League standings.

Goals from captain Milton Karisa and starboy Allan Okello ensured the Venoms leapfrogged NEC FC to lead the table with 20 points from nine games, one ahead of NEC and two clear of KCCA FC in third.

URA FC, who now sit 10th with just 11 points after three wins, two draws and four defeats, struggled to keep up with Vipers' efficiency. Karisa opened the scoring in the 56th minute, capitalising on a defensive mishap by URA.

Okello sealed the victory five minutes later, heading in Karisa’s perfectly timed cross. Kitara FC returns to winning ways! Kitara FC ended a seven-match winless streak in emphatic fashion, thrashing UPDF FC 4-0 at The Royals Park in Hoima on Friday.

A penalty from Fred Amaku, a brace from Kabon Living, and a goal from George Senkaaba secured Kitara’s second win of the season, lifting them off the bottom to 14th place with seven points. Amaku opened the scoring in the 14th minute, converting from the spot.

Kabon doubled the lead in the 25th minute, finishing a well-delivered ball from David Ndihabwe. UPDF missed a chance to reduce the deficit when Kitara goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima saved Bernard Muwanga’s penalty in the 36th minute.

Kabon struck again just before halftime, with Ndihabwe once more providing the assist. Senkaaba added a fourth after the break, capping a dominant performance from the hosts. The result leaves UPDF in seventh place with 12 points from three wins, three draws and three losses.

The matchday concluded on Saturday with victory for Mbarara City and SC Villa who delivered a 6-1 thrashing of Wakiso Giants. It is a three-team race currently at the top of the table with Vipers leading by one point over NEC FC, who leaped past third-placed former leaders KCCA.
