Ugandan referee Shamirah Nabadda has been named among the 14 referees selected to officiate at the upcoming Total Energies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025.
Nabadda is the sole Ugandan representative among the 56 officials appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the tournament.
A FIFA-accredited referee since 2017, Nabadda has built an impressive career officiating at high-profile tournaments, including the CAF Women’s Champions League finals, CECAFA qualifiers, the All Africa Games, and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Her selection for the U-20 AFCON underscores her growing stature as one of the continent’s leading referees. Nabadda will be part of an officiating team comprising 14 assistant referees, 10 VAR officials, and other technical and administrative personnel.
Originally set to be hosted by Ivory Coast, the tournament was relocated to Egypt.
