Tanzania Mainland Premier League side Simba SC forward Steven Mukwala believes they have sharpened well in pre-season and are now ready to roar again when the new 2025-26 campaign kicks off.
The Msimbazi Reds endured a frustrating campaign last season, finishing without silverware. The pain was even made worse after losing the Premier League title to rivals Young Africans on the final day of the campaign.
“The camp went well. We trained hard and pushed each other. A few players picked up minor injuries but nothing serious. The key thing is that we are focused, united and ready for the season,” said Mukwala as quoted by Daily News.
“I can’t say too much about the new players but I can assure the fans they are top quality. Simba doesn’t sign average players. Let them come to Simba Day and see for themselves.
“I don’t feel pressure. I have played Yanga more than once, so I know what to expect. This season, there are no excuses we must win. It will be a tough game but we will fight hard for the result.”
Having pitched pre-season camp in Egypt, Simba have already returned to Tanzania to fine-tune for the season. Simba’s focus will shift to the Community Shield clash against Young Africans on September 16.
