Uganda’s U20 women’s national team, the Queen Cranes, have officially switched focus to the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes summoned a 32-player provisional squad to camp.
The team will start residential preparations this Saturday, January 24, 2026, with players expected to report at FUFA House in Mengo at 9:00am before travelling to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru for camp.
The Queen Cranes face a crucial double-header against Zambia in the first round of the qualifiers. Uganda will host the first leg on February 7, 2026 at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, before travelling for the return leg in Zambia on February 14, 2026. The winner on aggregate over the two legs will progress to the next round of the qualification campaign.
Coach Botes has named a blend of locally-based talent and a few foreign-based players as she begins shaping a competitive side for the demanding tie against the Southern Africans.
With camp now underway, the Queen Cranes will be aiming to fine-tune their preparations and put themselves in a strong position ahead of the decisive two-legged tie against Zambia.
