The Uganda U17 National Team has kicked off its preparations for the AFCON U17 Zonal Qualifiers 2024 for the CECAFA Region with the announcement of a 37-player provisional squad by head coach Brian Ssenyondo.
The squad will assemble on Friday, 22nd November 2024 at FUFA House in Mengo before heading to the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru for residential training. As the tournament hosts, Uganda is set to welcome teams from the CECAFA region for the qualifiers, scheduled to run from 14th to 28th December 2024.
Matches will be played at a venue yet to be confirmed with the aim of clinching the regional championship and qualifying for the 2025 AFCON U17 tournament. Head coach Brian Ssenyondo will lead a seasoned technical team that includes Ronald Ssali as assistant coach, Magada Keneth as goalkeeper coach and fitness coach Massa Simeon.
The backroom staff also comprises team doctors Michael Gumisiriza and Ivan Kulika, equipment manager Veron Ddamba, team manager Bashir Mutyaba and media officer Joel Cornelius Kivumbi.
The provisional squad is composed of talented players drawn from local academies, schools and clubs with one international player, Austin Amani, from Harrogate Town Academy in England.
